Intergenerational Ties: My Father and His Family

Medium: Pencil on Paper

Family is never just the people around you - it’s the echoes of those who came before, the stories passed down, and the invisible threads connecting us across time. In this piece I tried to capture that sense of intergenerational unity.

At the forefront are my father and brother, drawn with precise, intimate strokes. But as you look closer, you’ll notice the ghostly figures of my grandfather and my father’s sister, layered into the composition. These aren’t just figures, they are memories, legacies, and reminders of how the past shapes the present. The overlapping forms symbolize the way history lives within us, and the gentle touch of their hands speaks to the comfort and strength found in family bonds that transcend time.
